Appearance: Similar to canon, though of course she's taller, more mature looking and with sharper features. Is a bit more girly than canon!Tomo, but still straightforward. Dyes her hair reddish.

Codename: Soleil (French for "sun", comes from the famous circus company Cirque du Soleil)

History:

Tomoka Osakada was the first child of an middle-upper class family from Kamakura. Nicknamed "Tomo-chan" or simply "Tomo" by her friends, she grew up pampered by her parents and grandparents, which shaped her into a willful and self-assured girl who rarely feared to make her voice and opinions heard.

When Tomoka was eight years old, her father Haruhiko transferred to Tokyo due to work, so the family had to move there. The year after that, her mother Shizuru was pregnant again, and gave birth to twin boys. Both of these events made Tomoka more mature and less flighty and self-centered: it was a bit easier to "tame" her when she had temper tantrums, and instead of beating up or yelling at other kids when things didn't go her way, she'd try to be more of a team-worker... as well as quite protective of her friends and the twins, whom she came to adore.

Tomoka had always been excellent in gymnastics, but when her family took her to see the Cirque du Soleil for her 14th birthday, she became absolutely hooked on it. Of course she was too young to go to auditions (not to mention these would be abroads) and her parents first thought this was another of Tomoka's whims, later tried to convince her to take up formal rhythmic gymnastics instead. . . to no avail. After much talking, she struck a deal with her parents: she'd finish highschool with good grades and, as soon as she graduated, she'd be allowed to attend auditions in the USA - it certainly helped that her maternal uncle lived in Montreal, Canada, where the Cirque was based.

Tomoka spent her first year of highschool studying as well as training in rhythmic gymnastics under the watch of a friend of her parents, gym trainer Himiko Otowa. It was during those months she spent juggling between school and training, that she started to notice something... special in herself, so to say: when she trained with music, she would see colorful sparkles bouncing in sync with her movements and the background sounds. At first Tomoka didn't really pay attention, trying to focus on her current skills than on something that could be a mere fragment of her imagination, but during a night training session in Himiko's gym, her coach suddenly stopped her in the middle of a specially complicated routine and pointed out at the ceiling above them...

The air above Tomoka was full of shiny bubbles that resembled rainbow-colored fireflies, bouncing around the lights of the gym. When Himiko took the rhytmic ball and threw it at them, they bursted in a rain of multicolored lights.

There was no doubt now: Tomoka was a mutant. She was confused and depressed, completely sure that her dream to be a Cirque du Soleil member was now lost, and also struggling to not let her school friends know of her mutanthood. Himiko spoke to Tomoka's parents, and though Haruhiko was surprised to learn that their daughter was a mutant, Shizuru wasn't: her older brother Shigure, the one who had promised help with the auditions, actually was a mutant as well. They decided to support Tomoka though her upcoming ordeals - the question was, what could they do, other than giving her emotional support?

Conversations, discussions, options weighing, e-mail exchanges with the uncle, talks with the grandparents, etc. came and went; meanwhile, Tomoka started to get used to the idea that she'd have to put her Cirque dreams at least in stand-by until she was in control of her powers, which let her do things like using her bouncy and colorful sparkles to entertain the twins or summoning light to study at night without needing a desk lamp. Soon, Himiko came with good news: she had learnt about a school for mutants named Ryuhana, where Tomoka could start working on gaining control of her new skills.

As the first semester of her first HS year was over, Tomoka transferred to Ryuhana. During the next 2 1/2 years, she trained hard to control her powers, and also made lots of friends thanks to her open and cheerful personality; the closest of them was Sakuno Ryuzaki, her sweet and gentle roommate, who kinda served as her "Jiminy Cricket" when she went overboard.

Tomoka worked her way into X-Prime, becoming one of its members after her highschool graduation and enrollment in the college course. She had not forgotten about her beloved Cirque and never would... but she knew there were people who needed help, and she'd never leave them alone if she could avoid it.
